Why ODJ?

With the One Digital Journey (ODJ) we provide an easy and consistent way to support the transformation into the cloud within the Schwarz Group. On the journey into the cloud, we empower a cloud native development approach to all our teams.

Starting by building the application via automated CI/CD-Pipelines and ending with the deployment to our supported hyperscalers in order to have the applications running in a scalable cloud environment.
This journey is supported with a standardized and highly automated development process which considers all our group internal rules for a compliant application, such as SIMPL, NEO Principles and the ONE DIRECTION.

Your big advantage is that you can focus on the creation of business value of your application without the need of bootstrapping everything on your own.

ODJ Advantages

The ODJ is our developer platform that allows solution and product teams to easily and automatically enter the cloud. The central management of software projects means that quality requirements such as security can be guaranteed. The combination of IT systems is also possible.

We automate the provision and governance of cloud applications quick, reliable and in a resource saving manner using the One Digital Journey as a central tool.

Developers life without ODJDevelopers life without ODJ

Before a team can start with the development, many challenges have to be resolved.
The large number of manual steps such as tickets for hardware, software, usage rights, configurations of the environment etc. harbors the potential for errors and ties up capacities.

ODJ automates a variety of tasks such as access, settings, security check, sonar checks, Kubernetes etc. and enables the solution teams to focus on the actual development to gain business value for their customers.

Security & SIMPL

The Schwarz Information Security Management Policy Library or short SIMPL, gives us the guideline within which we can act at Schwarz IT. SIMPL determines how we treat our digital assets and includes for example guidelines on which authentication and authorization mechanisms are to be used, how we want to backup our data, describes how a secure password looks like for us and how often it has to be changed and much more.

Architecture Runtime Model

The colleagues from Enterprise Architecture introduced the Architecture Runtime Model in short which is our strategic framework for target oriented architecture management within our company.
ARM defines at an abstract level all the necessary technical terms on the basis of which architecture can be described and planned. It provides a simple common language that enables everyone to discuss solutions and implementations on an abstract level. This simplicity makes it possible for people with different backgrounds to discuss an issue together. Each term within the ARM framework is clearly defined and minimizes the risk of misunderstanding.

Within the One Digital Journey we bring the ARM to life and we use it to plan and structure every application which is operated via the ODJ.

ARMARM

The ARM complements our Solution Driven Organization, or in short SDO. The main focus of the SDO is the working model between our solution tandems and the cost planning within our company.
The connecting entity between both worlds - the ARM and SDO - is the Application which is related to an IT- or Business-Solution within the SDO.

ONE DIRECTION

ONE DIRECTION is our strategy for digital transformation to the cloud. It provides SIT and the Schwarz group a clear direction towards the future of ONE IT with the goal of having 80% of our workload running in the cloud by 2025. ONE DIRECTION is our technological DNA to working together with the business “for winning the race”.

The ODJ together with MyAPI is a huge enabler to start our future and support the main design principles of the ONE DIRECTION. The principles which are supported by the One Digital Journey:

  • Cloud First - preferred with our STACKIT Cloud
  • API First
  • Internet First & Zero Trust
  • you build it - you run it

NEO

NEO is one of 5 LEt's GO initiatives that all pursue one goal: to make SIT the top technology company in action - globally, highly efficient and scalable.

Based on this vision, NEO is focused on making SIT the best software engineering unit in the world. The focus is on successfully and reproducibly delivering digital products - flexible and reliable on time and within budget.

One of the main goals from the NEO project is to increase the productivity through principles-led action within SIT.

Regarding the technical NEO principles the ODJ will help to implement and support their users to observe and meet these principles. Currently we are working on this topic and we will inform you in our blogs about the progress. Principle topics where the ODJ could help you in future are:

Besides the principles, NEO adresses different areas of our way of working, e.g. the tooling for a data driven engineering approach, knowledge management, engineering teams and roles, onboarding and recruiting and last but not least the change management within our company
